If you happen to accidentally remove your WordPress’ .htaccess file, or alter it somehow and your permalinks no longer work all you need to do is to add the following code into your .htaccess and the permalinks will start working again without issues:

# BEGIN WordPress

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>

# END WordPress
